Community Awareness and Organising To Ensure Right To Food and Right To Work
SNEHA is working with 11,092 families of 26 villages spread in Three grama panchayaths in Kudligi taluk and 34 villages spread in Three grama panchayaths in Sandur taluk of Bellary district to ensure Right To Food, Right To Health, Right To Education and Right To Work Through Community Empowerment. Community awareness programs are organised to create awareness on MGNREGA-Mahathma Gandhi National Rural Employment Act, Food Security Schemes, Grama Sabha, Right To Information. Poor families in the village are helped to have job cards and job card holders in the villages are organised in to ‘Village Level Employment Rights Committees’. Trainings are organised for these committees on various entitlements of workers under MGNREGA on- Procedures for registering workers, Application for work, Rules and responsibilities and the role of Grama Sabhas and Grama Panchayath, How works under the scheme are to be planned and executed, How to calculate the cost of the structures etc., Grama Panchayath members, Panchayath Development Officers and village leaders also trained on MGNREGA-Mahathma Gandhi National Rural Employment Act, Food Security Schemes, Grama Sabha, Right To Information so that Grama Panchayaths are pro poor.
